“You will keep the mind that is dependent on You in perfect peace, for it is trusting in You.” – Isaiah 26:3
Peace may be defined as “the absence of conflict, turmoil, or distress” and with such a definition in mind one could be a little hard-pressed to find it anywhere today. As a researcher, mission strategist, and communicator, I am daily bombarded by the endless stream of media reporting unrest and conflict at every click of the mouse. If not for some sort of news to the contrary, one might even begin to believe that such chaos is inescapable.
Yet, perfect peace CAN be found and it is available to anyone who wants it! This complete, supernatural peace surpasses earthly understanding and has been proven to endure the most disastrous of circumstances. Isaiah, the prophet of God, even tells us where to go and get it. Through trusting dependence on God, your mind … my mind … will be kept in perfect peace.
Unfortunately, the opposite is also true. You … I … this world will never know peace apart from Him.
The foundation of the Christian’s peace is everlasting; it is what no time, no change can destroy. It will remain when the body dies; it will remain when the mountains depart and the hills shall be removed, and when the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll. – Jonathan Edwards
