Then He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?'” I replied, “Lord God, only You know.” – Ezekiel 37:3
When faced with the bleak vision of a valley full of human bones, Ezekiel must have certainly wondered what the message could possibly be. Perhaps by that time in his life he had learned not to jump to conclusions, but feelings of hopelessness, death, and desolation must have flooded his heart and mind. I even imagine a pregnant pause between God’s question and the prophet’s discerning, yet humble reply.
After over three decades of ministry (and nearly 61 years of life), I can say with all candor that I have certainly seen some “dead” situations … circumstances that seemed utterly hopeless. On the other hand, I have never seen a situation so “dead” that God could not breathe life into it.
It ain’t over ’til God says so. The dead, dry, bleached-white bones of your situation can live, if and when God says so.
I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live. – Jesus (John 11:25)
