Then all the trees of the field will know that I am Yahweh. I bring down the tall tree, and make the low tree tall. I cause the green tree to wither and make the withered tree thrive. I, Yahweh, have spoken and I will do it. – Ezekiel 17:24
More often than not, this life in Christ seems to be about contradictions rather than consistencies. Death leads to life … brokenness brings healing … trials produce endurance … you know what I mean.
Apart from God’s sovereignty and wisdom (and even with an acceptance of it) such paradoxical life events often seem confusing and patently illogical to those of us who must endure them. On the other hand, by reversing our preconceived notions of how this world should work, God reveals Himself as the Author, Originator, and Creator of every single base principle, law, or rule upon which this universe operates. Consistently, He proclaims that it is His “forest” and that He determines the outcome of every single tree.
All we have to do is trust the Forester.
Believe in Him and not trust in Him? You might as well say, [His accusers] loved Him when they nailed Him to the cross. – Anthony Farindon
