Formed or The Former

Jacob’s Portion is not like these because He is the One who formed all things. Israel is the tribe of His inheritance; Yahweh of Hosts is His name. – Jeremiah 51:19
Why would someone … a whole people … exchange the truth of God for a lie? While we may wonder at the absurdity of such a proposition, we must also acknowledge that historically such choices have repeatedly occurred. In fact, this “trade” is almost assuredly a part of your (yes, even my) own personal past.
“Jacob’s Portion,” by the grace of God, is also the believer’s inheritance, yet how often have we (as believers) wasted our worship on lesser things. Are we not often distracted by the sequined pleasures of earthly things, losing our focus upon the true Light that shines for all eternity.
Our God is not “formed” by hand, thought, or imagination. He is rather “The Former” of all things. The question we must be constantly asking ourselves is this, “Is God … today … forming me?”
God made everything out of nothing. But the nothingness shows through. – Paul Valery
