A man takes joy in giving an answer; and a timely word — how good that is! – Proverbs 15:23
So … you’re having coffee (or whatever, but coffee is more spiritual) with a friend, when he or she asks, “Could I get your advice on something?”
First, you are intimidated (possibly) because you don’t want to answer wrongly. Second, you’re honored because your friend considers your counsel to be of some value. Third, … I might call it, “the impossible third” … you’re blessed by the interaction. You’re blessed, because in that moment something supernatural occurs. Good ol’ broken and flawed YOU, in such moments as these, is reminded of an applicable portion of God’s truth (obviously gained from time in His Word) and the Holy Spirit brings this truth to your mind so you can share it with your friend in his/her time of need!
As Solomon would say, “How good that is!”
Just remember that two things are absolutely necessary for these “impossible thirds” to multiply in your life: 1) You must spend time with God, and 2) You must spend time with others. For the “impossible third” … the blessing … can only come through abundant time with both.
Don’t give your advice before you are called upon. – Desiderius Erasmus
