And He has a name written on His robe and on His thigh: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. – Revelation 19:16

Do you have a tattoo? It is difficult these days to find a professional athlete who isn’t practically covered with ink. In a culture where it seems that everyone is looking for an identity, many seem to be using body art to establish one and athletes certainly promote this cultural expression.

You might be surprised to learn that I have one and that the Artist who put it there was from Nazareth … and that He has one, too? On my Artist’s thigh, it is written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. I don’t know how He got His, but He is certainly the only One who could ever wear it. The name of my Artist is Jesus, the Christ.

Where is my tattoo? Well, it is hard to see, because it is written on my heart. The King of kings and Lord of Lords applied it with His own blood. It is only one word and it says …

… HIS.

But the building’s identity resided in the ornament. – Louis Sullivan
