Because the land experienced peace, Asa built fortified cities in Judah. No one made war with him in those days because the LORD gave him rest. – 2 Chronicles 14:6
Everyone appreciates peace … whether it is around the world, in their homeland, or just personal … we ALL appreciate it when it comes. Perhaps because it seems so rare.
Of course, world peace is a mirage. Peace within our borders may occur, but even in the U.S. we live with the lingering specter of imminent conflict. Personal tranquility is even more difficult to maintain, given the issues facing many today.
Why is peace so elusive?
Peace is difficult to attain and secure, because only Christ can provide it and while we might all affirm this truth, that is not my point. My point is that conflict prohibits construction. It is impossible to build a life, a family, a ministry, an organization, or anything else, in the midst of conflict. True peace … peace that comes from a personal relationship with Jesus … is the best foundation for health.
First, His peace, then you can build.
Peace and justice are two sides of the same coin. – Dwight D. Eisenhower
