Fight to Win

Be strong! We must prove ourselves strong for our people and for the cities of our God. May the LORD’s will be done. – 1 Chronicles 19:13

When Joab, the commander of Israel’s army, learned that he was surrounded by the enemy, he told his leaders that they needed to be ready to come to one another’s aid should the need arise. Then he said (in essence), “Fight and leave the results to God!”

Do you find yourself in a great battle today? Do you feel surrounded by forces that are out of your control, which threaten to overwhelm you? The battle is not yours. Neither is the victory or the defeat. The battle, the victory, and the defeat all belong to the Lord. All we can do is fight the enemy, which is often ourselves, and be ready to help one another when in need.

But first, decide up front if you want God’s victory more than your own. If God is honored, then we win. If He is not, then we lose … no matter what victory we may claim.

To the Master’s honor all must turn, each in its track, without a sound, forever tracing Newton’s ground. – Albert Einstein
