He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab facing Beth-peor, and no one to this day knows where his grave is. – Deuteronomy 34:6
Do you know where you will be buried? A few years ago I was headed out on a trip and my wife asked, “Hey, if you die, what do you want me to do with your body?” Say!!!!!!!!!! … What? We chuckled over that one, but apparently the recent death of someone we both knew had prompted the age-old question concerning where to place one’s mortal remains. Now, in our early 60’s, we have just begun to prepay our funerals and pick out plots.
Most of my family is buried in north Georgia across from the family church. The body of the father of my best friend in West Africa is buried right in the middle of the family compound. We will most likely be buried near our church in Pennsylvania. The Bible says that the LORD buried Moses in the valley in the land of Moab, but “no one to this day knows where his grave is.”
Wait a minute … God buried Moses, but no one knows where? Moses was an important to God. The Almighty spoke through the prophets, but He spoke with Moses face-to-face and if the location of Moses’ grave is unknown, perhaps God is not concerned with where our physical bodies lie after we die.
God is more than able to find, resurrect, and glorify the corruptible, no matter where it is … you can rest in peace about that. The greater question to be answered is whether or not your eternal soul remains and lies with Him.
