O How Hard!

Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? – Luke 12:25

There have been times when my wife and I had a plan (or program) for our lives and ministry, then everything began to change. Naturally, this produced some uncertainty and our early reaction to this change was to worry.

Where would we live? We once ended up in our kids basement :-), changed locations four times, went to Georgia, California, and then back to Pennsylvania.

What would we do? Sometimes THAT took much longer, but God always provided a way to serve (local church, West Africa, global mobilization, and now Middle East).

How could we leave the work in which we had so greatly invested? This often proved to be the most difficult of all, but the Lord saw fit to allow me to continue to serve in effective ways to expand his Kingdom.

Since we have some “age” on us, we have (thankfully) faced life-changing decisions before and understand that there can always be more ahead. We also remain convinced of some important truths. For example, we KNOW that God is sovereign. We also KNOW that we must daily choose a path that is in line with His truth and within His moral will. We may also be ASSURED that He will provide everything we need to serve Him, if we stay on that path.

Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus; just to take Him at His Word … yet, sometimes, O how hard!

The reason why worry kills more people than work is that more people worry than work. – Robert Frost
