It gives us new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. – 1 Thessalonians 3:8
With all of my work overseas, it is possible that I might not be able to visit some ministry colleagues or partners in far off places for many weeks or months at a time (though we do our best to video conference, when possible). As a result, I may wonder if they are remaining faithful and they may wonder the same about me! The goal of this mutually accountable connection is that we will ALL be prompted to stand firm in the Lord.
This world is full of bad news and can often be discouraging. The Body of Christ is often maligned and under attack. This is not unusual, nor should it be unexpected. For this reason, the greatest encouragement that any servant of the Gospel could receive is the assurance that our “family” within the Body of Christ is standing strong in the faith.
With a world in need of the life-changing Gospel, let us speak often of the faithfulness of the saints, in order that we all might be encouraged to remain faithful until Christ’s return.
Most of us, swimming against the tides of trouble the world knows nothing about, need only a bit of praise or encouragement — and we will make the goal. – Jerome P. Fleishman
