Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant. – Galatians 1:10
Who would you rather please, men or God? Whose opinion matters the most?
Before you give an answer, consideration must be given to whether God’s response or man’s is your primary concern. When facing any decision, are you more interested in how God’s might respond or another person? An honest answer to these questions will begin to uncover where you truly stand.
Sometimes, as servants of God, we have to displease someone, because to do otherwise would be displeasing to God. It is not a comfortable position, but we must be willing to admit that it is often a necessary one. As difficult as it may be, if you desire to please God you must be willing to live with the fact that you cannot always please men.
There just isn’t any pleasing some people. The trick is to stop trying. – Joel Rosenburg
