“What reward or recognition did we ever give Mordecai for this?” the king asked. His attendants replied, “Nothing has been done for him.” – Esther 6:3
There have been times in my life when I thought that I deserved recognition for something I had achieved, but I didn’t receive any. As a result, I felt unappreciated, disappointed, and even a little angry. Have you ever felt that way?
Mordecai performed a great service for the king of Babylon (he saved his life), but was not initially acknowledged for his actions (perhaps because he never brought it up). On the other hand, God did not forget what he had done and at just the right moment (and in a way that accomplished His divine purpose) He reminded the king of Mordecai’s service resulting in a huge reward and blessing.
Trust God. He knows all about your service and He will reward you when He is ready … and YOU are ready to give Him the glory! Your reward will certainly come one day, perhaps from the King of kings Himself.
Every act of virtue is an ingredient unto reward. – Jeremy Taylor
