Can’t Buy Me Love

Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth, his offer would be utterly scorned. – Song of Solomon 8:7

The Beatles once recorded a song titled, “Can’t Buy Me Love” and while some might want to argue the point, I am pretty sure that they were right. You can pay someone to ACT devoted, loyal, supportive, or loving, but love itself cannot be purchased.

But of course, people try to buy it anyway. In this life (it seems) many of the personal problems that people face originate with a desire to buy, purchase, or seek love in places (or persons) that are bound to fail them.

So, how does a person find a love that is true and lasting? She doesn’t. Love finds her … or rather, HE finds her. True love, proven by His blood at Calvary, is ONLY found in Christ and this love never fails.

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13). – Jesus
