Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established. – Proverbs 4:26
I have a bad habit. OK, maybe more than one, but let’s not go there TODAY. Sometimes I speak BEFORE I think. Sometimes I even speak TO think (I call this “thinking out loud” and NO it is not the same as talking to yourself … which I have also been known to do.) Of course, these practices don’t always ensure good decision-making.
The proverb above reminds us to THINK before we decide or act; something I have actually improved on through the years (Thank you, Jesus!). I have even learned to pray before decisions, seek biblical counsel, and then ask God for His wisdom and the strength to remain obedient to His will.
Fact is, God’s way is always the best way and the most secure path for any life … if a person is willing to shut up long enough to hear what He has to say!
No man is so foolish, but he may sometimes give another good counsel, and no man so wise that he may not easily err if he takes no other counsel than his own. He that is taught only by himself has a fool for a master. – Ben Johnson
