Then all the commanders of the forces, Johanan the son of Kareah, Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people both small and great approached and said to Jeremiah the prophet, “Please let our petition come before you, and pray for us to the Lord your God, that is for all this remnant; because we are left but a few out of many, as your own eyes now see us, that the Lord your God may tell us the way in which we should walk and the thing that we should do.” – Jeremiah 42:3
A group of leaders once approached Jeremiah (the prophet) and expressed a desire that God give them guidance for the future. After they presented their request, Jeremiah agreed to take it before the Lord. The people then gave their unequivocal consent to obey whatever God’s direction implied … and afterward proceeded to ignore it completely!
Wouldn’t it be great if God would tell you exactly where to walk and what to do? Did you know that your response will probably determine His? Judah’s leaders wanted God to show them where to go, but God wanted to know if the people were willing to go wherever He would send them.
Will you go wherever He sends? Ask only if you really want the answer!
Isaiah (6:8) said, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’”
