Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord. – Jeremiah 17:7
We all desire to be blessed by God. As Americans, we even sing that blessing (as in, God Bless America!). The question is, “How can a person (or a country) ever be assured of such divine approval?”
Well, it seems, this verse tells us. God will bless the person or country that trusts Him.
In other words, in order to say, “God Bless Us!”, we first must be able to say, “In God We Trust.” Neither a nation nor a person should be able to rely upon the blessing of God, if that nation or person has not first put his or her trust in God. Even if we make such a claim on every piece of currency we print, it won’t make a difference if we refuse to do it.
God bless? First, trust!
