So, Joshua said to the sons of Israel, “How long will you put off entering to take possession of the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?” – Joshua 18:3
Sometime after their victory at Jericho, much of the Promised Land was already under the control of the Israelites, but seven tribes had not yet taken possession of their share of the inheritance. When Joshua realized this, he wondered why. In other words, he asked, “What are you waiting for?”
Every follower of Jesus Christ has been given an inheritance: eternal life, abundant life, and the ability to glorify God. How long will some of us wait to take possession of this life that the Lord has already given us to embrace? What are we waiting for?
It seems that many Christians have not learned to enjoy their abundant life in Christ simply because they just refuse to live it. It was Horace who said, “Seize the day.” Perhaps, first, it would be better to be seized by the Savior.
Let God have your life; He can do more with it than you can. – Dwight L. Moody
