There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever. – Revelation 22:3-5
What will heaven be like?
It is a question that I have often been asked, sometimes by children, the elderly, or those who have just lost a loved one. Some are just curious. Others sense its proximity. As one who has obviously never been there, I must fully rely upon the biblical record to give them answers. Yet even with God’s infallible Word as a reference, the descriptions just don’t seem adequate.
One thing about the eternal home of the redeemed is certain. The Lord is there and that, in itself, is enough for me or, at least, it should be.
If your heart takes more pleasure in reading novels, or watching television, or going to the movies, or talking to friends, rather than just sitting alone with God and embracing Him, sharing His cares and His burdens, weeping and rejoicing with Him, then how are you going to handle forever and ever in His presence? You’d be bored to tears in heaven, if you’re not ecstatic about God now! – Keith Green
