The prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet comes to pass, then that prophet will be known as one whom the Lord has truly sent. – Jeremiah 28:9
In Jeremiah’s day almost every so-called prophet of God was declaring that the Babylonians would neither invade nor conquer Jerusalem. Apparently, no one wanted to be the bearer of bad news before a king who despised hearing any. Yet, as a true messenger of the Lord, Jeremiah spoke anyway. He had no choice. He could only proclaim what God had commanded him to plainly state.
In a day when most people love to have their “ears tickled” by popular prophets who claim that all is well, we need Jeremiah’s who are unafraid to speak the truth, particularly when speaking to a Church that claims to follow Christ.
We may not like the true prophets, but nevertheless, we should still welcome them.
We have a right to believe whatever we want, but not everything we believe is right. – Ravi Zacharias
